About the Artist

I am an artist with no preferred style, medium nor limitations. I love synaesthesia, where the senses work in mutual dialogue. I am better known as ‘Jim the Artist’.

Over the last nine years I have made around fifty murals, including churches, schools and a railway tunnel; I even placed a mosaic at Aintree Racecourse Equestrian Centre. I am as happy playing ukulele and harmonica as urban sketching. I usually fill sheets of drawings at open mic gigs.

Currently I am busy urban sketching a map of Liverpool. I was a lecturer in Interior design, art history, visual communication and printmaking.

I work from two credos: Benjamin Franklin “We don’t stop playing because we grow old we grow old because we stop playing”, and Sue Jeffers “If a thing is worth doing it is worth doing badly”. Merge the two and you get “A thing is ONLY worth doing if it is done playfully”. When you try to do everything perfectly, then you are making the biggest mistake of your life: it is the one Adam and Eve both made, i.e. pretending to be God!
