Backstrap Weaving Workshop

In this Full Day beginner’s workshop, you will learn all the basics of Backstrap Weaving.

Backstrap Weaving is an indigenous form of weaving still practiced in Central and Southern America, as well as various other forms in Africa and India. Kate spent months in Mexico researching and practicing Backstrap from some of the most talented weavers in Mexico.

Backstrap weaving is a portable form of weaving, without any heavy looms to assemble, it’s perfect to take on the go.

In this Full Day intensive class you will learn how to warp and weave your own 2 inch strap, perfect for a camera, bag or belt. You will design and warp your project, learn plain weaving before moving on to create designs using a warp float technique.

You will take your weaving home to finish off on your free loom kit.
